About Me

I’m Rizmi Sowdhagar, a software developer with a solid foundation in full-stack engineering and AI/ML technologies. My technical career began with a degree in Computer Science from CBIT, where I built my core skills in development, problem solving, and systems thinking. I joined HCLTech, where I progressed from a Graduate Academic Trainee to a Senior Software Engineer. There, I worked on automating infrastructure tasks, building robust monitoring solutions in AWS, and deploying scalable backend services using Java and Python. I enjoyed leading retrospectives, planning agile sprints, and mentoring new engineers while contributing to enterprise-level platforms.

Currently, I’m pursuing my Master’s in Computer Science at NJIT. I'm focused on combining applied machine learning and intelligent backend architecture. One of my recent projects involved building a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline using OpenAI, FAISS, and LlamaIndex, enhancing search quality across knowledge bases. I’m particularly drawn to problems at the intersection of AI, backend development, and product thinking—where smart systems meet real-world user needs.

Outside of work and academics, I’m a creative at heart. I love painting and capturing the world through photography, often documenting small moments and vibrant landscapes during my travels. Exploring new cities, cultures, and cuisines gives me energy and perspective, and I’m always looking for opportunities to connect my technical work with real-world experiences. Whether it’s a quiet evening painting or a solo adventure to a new place, I believe these experiences make me a more thoughtful engineer and collaborator.

I’m a lifelong learner who enjoys building intelligent, user-centered applications. I thrive on clean code, thoughtful design, and meaningful impact. Whether it’s a startup idea, an academic experiment, or a real-world deployment, I’m always ready to create something that makes a difference.
